Dana Michel’s Cutlass Spring - video trailer (direction, cinematography)

Maurice created a trailer for Dana Michel’s Cutlass Spring, performed at Usine C, in Montreal, QC. Laureate of the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2017, live artist Dana Michel returns with a new work, CUTLASS SPRING. In this piece, she explores the socio-cultural layers that make her who she is and the buried facets of her personality. Through each of her pieces, Dana Michel scans her body. This time, she dives into the heart of her sexual self to unearth parts of her that she denied in the past. Guided by raw energy and an unique physicality, she attempts to extract herself from social conditioning and to face all of its contradictions. Simmering with humour, CUTLASS SPRING positions itself as an ethnography of sexuality and an archaeology of desire.
