Carbonate Sculpture Trio
Description — The Carbonate Sculpture Trio is made with a combination of techniques including hand-building, wheel throwing and 3D clay printing .
Inspired by ancient marine life and Botryoidal Minerals ( in particular Calcium Carbonate the main component of gastropod shells, shellfish skeletons and pearls.) Similarly to pearls, these minerals form in an environment that are rich with many nuclei like specks of dust, sand, or other particulate matter that serves as sources of crystal nucleation. As these "seeds" grow they form spheres, some might run into each other, overlap with others that are closes by, or fuse together. They all form unique clusters and shapes, an endless, beautiful and strange bounty of variation.
Dimensions — Each shape is approximately 3.5 “ - 5”
Material Notes — Made with 3 kinds of clay, Polar Ice Porcelain (New Zealand Halloysite, the whitest burning kaolin available), Smooth Buff Sculpture and grey stoneware. Glazed in clear gloss and matte alabaster. Signed.
